Today we started the class with a map quiz over the world. I was very pleased with all of my classes. Everyone did very well, and I expect those who have to retest will do much better the second time. After we finished the quiz, groups were re-formed and the Building a Civilization activity was completed and turned in. Also after the group activity was complete each group got a handout titled “From Ancient to Modern Communities.” If this was completed in class–then you were asked to turn it in. If it was not completed it is homework.

**HW: “From Ancient to Modern Communities” (if not completed in class)

Map Quiz Retest–Friday.

Don’t forget tomorrow is writing day–be prepared to be creative.

After we discussed the journal we started working on the Build A Civilization activity. Most groups got off to a very creative start. We will have some time tomorrow to finish the activity (it is due at the end of the class).

Geo/History A:

Today we had a lot going on. We first started off with a pretest. The pretest was used to see what you know and what you need to learn. Amazingly almost all of you knew that Henry XVI was killed by getting his head chopped off (I wondered why you retained that bit of history). Next you worked on both the physical and political maps of the world (REMEMBER: Map Quiz over this map on Tuesday, August 19). After you finished and turned in the maps, you were asked to Read the “Lucy” article and then write the summary on the handout. The summary is due tomorrow (Friday) if you did not finish it in class.

Homework: Finish “Lucy” Article Summary

**Remember: Bring your AR book/something to read to class tomorrow as well as your History book.
